How to use
- Choose one PDF file.
- Pick “Standard watermark (automatic)”, or “Automatic + specific text” and type the watermark as it appears, such as DRAFT.
- Press “Remove watermark”, review the output file, then download it.
When does the tool work?
It works when the watermark is a separate element inside the file: a standard mark tagged as a watermark, a layer named Watermark, or plain text drawn over the page with a standard font. This is the common case for documents to which a program added a watermark after creating them.
When does it not work?
A watermark cannot be removed when it is baked into the page itself, for example when the file is an image, a scan, or was made by printing pages as pictures, because the watermark is then part of the picture. Text removal may also fail if the watermark's font is embedded with a special encoding, so its text cannot be read. In those cases you need the original file from its source.
Use it responsibly
A watermark often protects the document owner's rights. Remove it only from your own files or files you are permitted to edit. And check the output after removal to make sure the content is intact.
Frequently asked questions
Does the tool remove watermarks that are images baked into the page?
No. If the watermark is part of the page image it cannot be separated from the content this way.
What do I type in the watermark text field?
Type the text as it appears on the page, such as DRAFT or CONFIDENTIAL. Letter case and spaces do not need to match.
Is the rest of the file affected?
No. Only the watermark elements are removed, and other text and images stay as they are. We still recommend reviewing the output.
