How to use
- Choose one image file.
- The resulting text appears with a preview and its length.
- Copy the Data URL or the ready-made <img> tag and use it in your code.
When is Base64 useful?
Embedding images this way works well for small icons, email templates and standalone HTML files because it removes an extra request. It adds roughly a third to the size, so it is not suited to large images.
A tip before converting
Compress the image or shrink its dimensions first with the Compress Images tool so the resulting text is shorter. The smaller the image, the easier the text is to handle and the lower its impact on page speed.
Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between Base64 and a Data URL?
Base64 is the encoding of data as text. A Data URL is Base64 prefixed with the file type, such as data:image/png;base64, which is the form a browser understands directly.
Can I turn Base64 back into an image?
Yes. Put the Data URL in an img tag or in the CSS background-image property.
Does the tool send my image to a server?
No. Your browser reads the file locally and converts it without any connection.
