How to use
- Set the length and the character types you need.
- Press “Generate new passwords” to get new ones.
- Press “Copy” next to the one you like and save it in a password manager.
What length is right?
Length matters more than complexity. 12 characters is a reasonable minimum, and 16 or more is better for important accounts such as email and banking. Since a password manager remembers it for you, there is no harm in making it long and fully random.
Habits that protect your accounts
Do not reuse the same password on more than one site, turn on two-step verification where possible, and use a trusted password manager rather than unprotected notes. If a password leaks, change it immediately.
Frequently asked questions
Are these passwords really random?
Yes. They are generated with the crypto.getRandomValues interface in your browser, which is designed for security uses.
Are passwords saved?
No. They are neither sent nor stored, and they vanish when you close the page or generate new ones.
Why exclude look-alike characters?
Characters such as l, 1, O and 0 are easy to confuse when typing by hand, so excluding them helps if you will type the password yourself.
